About Uttarakhand Technical University

Uttarakhand Technical University is located at Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. It is a separate technical University handled by Uttarakhand state government itself. The university was established in 2004. Before 2004, all the technical colleges of Uttarakhand were affiliated with Uttar Pradesh University as there was no Uttarakhand before! When Uttarakhand came into existence, the state government felt a need for a separate technical university for their students. Thus, Uttarakhand Technical University came into existence. Today this university has its range on all over Uttarakhand.

The University has ordinance for various bachelor and masters courses. It has ordinance for various courses like Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology Programme, MBA, MBA (Rural) Programmes, Bachelor of Pharmacy Programmes, Bachelor of Technology Programmes and Master in Computer Application (MCA) Programmes.

The university has its scope spread across the entire Uttarakhand region regarding technical studies. There are lots of colleges which are affiliated with Uttarakhand Technical University for its various courses. Some of the famous affiliate colleges can be named as Academy of Management Studies, Dehradun; Birla Institute of Applied Sciences, Bhimtal; College of Engineering Roorkee; Dehradun Institute of Technology, Dehradun; Himalayan Institute of Pharmacy & Research Dehradun; NIMBUS, Dehradun; Institute of Management Studies, Roorkee; Govt. Institute of Hotel Management, Almora; Graphic Era Institute of Technology, Dehradun etc. The students studying in these colleges are affiliated directly with Uttarakhand Technical University and get a degree from University itself for their courses.

All these colleges provide various graduation and post graduation courses in technical field as described above. The admission process for all these courses are conducted through a state level entrance exam. Students need to attend this exam and score according to various cut-offs of the different colleges. There is a high competition to get admission in certain colleges as they are very reputed and they have high quality teaching and infrastructure.

This admission process starts with attending this exam mostly in the month of June. The entrance exam forms are generally starts selling in April starting itself. All the information and intimations regarding this exam are given in major newspapers of the state. One can find the information on the University website also. Once the exam is finished and results are out, the interview for different courses in different colleges starts.

Uttarakhand technical university is known for the best quality education given in technical fields. It has highly developed infrastructure and facilitations for students coming for education. The affiliated colleges have the best faculties not only from Uttarakhand region but also from all over India. Some of the science colleges also have faculties from other nations. They also have the state-of-the-art technical infrastructure like lab facilities, experimentation instruments for students etc. Most of the colleges affiliated with Uttarakhand technical university has very huge library equipped with very wide range of books on the related subjects. The libraries are updated regularly with new books and magazines, journals and e books.

After the formation of Uttarakhand technical university, it has been very much comfortable for students of this region to get good quality of higher education. When Uttarakhand technical university was not there, they need to go very far at the places like Lucknow and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. But now this Uttarakhand technical university has facilitated higher education for the youth of Uttarakhand.
